Satriale’s Sandwich Deli

If you love the Sopranos like i love the Sopranos then this place is a must visit for you.

Located at 146 Anzac Parade, Kensington – Satriale’s is a tiny little shop decked out just like the Satriale’s pork shop in the show. They even have little table out the front with a checkered table cloth, JUST LIKE THE SHOW! (See link below for a list of important events that have occurred in the pork store).

All excitement aside – Satriale’s is a typical American-Italian Deli (or so i assume, i don’t know if i’ve been to a real one before…) that does sandwiches and cold cuts etc. When you get there the friendly mate behind the counter will tell you that everything is better toasted and everything is better on Rye. You should probably take his advice as he knows his shit.

I had the New Yorker (Pastrami, Red Cheddar, Tomato, Pickles and American Mustard) toasted on Rye. Because it was our first time, old mate made one New Yorker with tomato and one without for us to try. The pickles are next level and go together perfectly with the mustard and pastrami. I liked the one with tomato slightly better, but i highly recommend you make that decision yourself. I can safely say that they were both bloody delicious.

Mr Snack Beast had the Satriale’s Hero, one of the biggest sandwiches on the menu. He was keen on it.

Naturally on the way out we had to grab some cannoli that they had in store (see, Italian!) from Pasticceria Papa. These were also fab, as per usual. But that’s another story for another time.

So if you’re looking for a super relaxed/delicious sandwich that won’t break ya bank, i’d definitely recommend Satriale’s. The staff are fab and are always happy to offer recommendations if you need some help. Go pay them a visit!
